Ice Diver (OC-SCR-CCR)

Purpose

This program is designed to extend the diver’s knowledge and develop the skills necessary for diving from, underneath and around ice.

How deep can you dive with the IANTD Drift Diver (OC, SCR, CCR) Program?

No dives may be conducted to depths greater than diver previous certification level.

What do you need to enroll in this program?

• Open Circuit
  • Must be a qualified IANTD Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent.
  • Must be a qualified IANTD Dry Suit Diver or equivalent
  • Must be a minimum of 15 years of age for Diver qualification with a parent or guardian authorization, OR; Must be a minimum or 18 years of age without guardian approval.
• Rebreather
  • Must be a qualified IANTD Recreational Advanced Open Water Rebreather Diver equivalent.
  • Must be a qualified IANTD Dry Suit Diver or equivalent
  • Must be a minimum of 17 years of age with a parent or guardian authorization, OR; Must be a minimum or 18 years of age without guardian approval.

What is the minimum materials requirements?

• For Rebreather: IANTD Recreational Rebreather Ice Diver Student Kit
• For Open Circuit: IANTD Ice Diver Student Kit.

What this program must include?

• Academic Sessions
  • General Ice Terminology, Development, and Features
  • Safe Ice Weight Loads and Ice Mobility
  • Ancillary Equipment & Equipment Safety
  • Ice Access Holes (cutting, size requirements and safety) … and much more.

• Confined Water Session(s)

• Open Water Sessions
  • Identify and evaluate if the ice is safe to accept the weight of all divers and equipment.
  • Identify potentially unsafe ice conditions.
  • Demonstrate the safe and appropriate use of the following:
    • Ice screwsIce saws
    • Lines and tending (including communications)
    • Hole-cutting techniques
    • Surface aids to navigation
    • Navigate return to shore using compass and/or dead reckoning techniques and much more…
